HOW CAN A SLEEP DOCTOR HELP?

If you typically feel sleepy during most days, toss and turn all night, or think you have a sleep disorder, see your family doctor. Your doctor may recommend treatment or refer you to a sleep specialist who can determine if you have a sleep disorder. Sleep doctors use various tools, including an overnight stay at a sleep center, to arrive at a diagnosis and treatment plan.

Family Doctors

See your family doctor if you are sleeping poorly or feel overly tired. At your appointment, talk about your sleep problems. Your doctor will likely take your health history, conduct a physical exam, and request lab tests. Based on the results, your doctor may help you with your sleep problem. For example, you might be sleeping poorly after a traffic accident or a death in the family.
